Hi, I am planning on upgrading my college system as seen in my sig. I am wondering if I will need a reformat after I upgrade an AMD 64 3500 Clawhammer to a a AMD 64 4200 Manchester?

4200 isnt one i would suggest because of low cache.

3800 is a lot cheaper and almost just as good

4400 is the better then both of these and if you have the cash to get it i would suggest you do:)

yeh its a really nice price

so i would listen to ulater and cool the mofo then OC as hard as you can :)

haha, well ill be thinking about it, because I will have a spare amd 64 3500, any cooling suggestions?

I would not, your cpu can handle anything u throw at it. save your money and wait a while until you really a dual core, or is a requierement. As of right now nothing uses dual core, unless u video editing with high end programs, or doing 3d rederign(not games but making thoses graphics you see in the movies). I dont see the point to upgrading.
