EVGA 7900GT KO $289 (EVGA is the best GPU brand for Nvidia IMO)

Patriot 1GB $85.50 - $17 rebate (Patriot is good from my experience)

MSI Neo4-F $74 (MSI is a really good motherboard brand)

Antec Truepower 2.0 550W $90 (Antec is really good with their PSUs)

AMD X2 3800+ $297

WD 250GB $84 (Western Digital is one of the best next to Seagate)

Total $919.50 w/o shipping

But you still need a case and a DVD drive. You can get a decent case for 60 bucks and a DVD ROM for around 20 dollars putting it at almost exactly $1000 w/o shipping. You may want to get a DVD burner but that will cost around $15-$20 more then the DVD ROM.

I decided to drop 2GB for 1GB so you can get a dual core CPU (1GB will play games fine anyways, even though 2GB will help in a few). You may need Windows XP unless you already have it (if you don't it will set you back 90 bucks).

wow thx for the quick post!!

also whats does the duel-core mean? also if for some reason i come across so unexpected money should i get 2 sticks that equal 2GB of ram or just one stick? and wahts this duel channel on the above post?

also should i start looking into OC my cpu?

thx alot guys!

if you get 1gb get one stick so you can buy the same stick when you need more memory and have dual channel but if you get 2gb you should probably go with 2x1gb

what about these choices? and about the case, are there any better for a lower or same amount of money?

the chances of you buying another stick of ram that will be EXACTLY the same, is 1 to 1 Quadrilion. Get 2x512mB, and then later on by 2x1gb.

If you are planning on using the ASUS A8N5X motherboard, you wont be able to run DDR2. It supports only DDR400/DDR333/DDR266.
