In flash make a new layer called actions (or wateva) and on the last frame of the whole animation create a keyframe on the actions layer. Open up the actions panel and type in stop(); then close it and press ctrl + enter to create the swf and play it. Save and exit. Now when you play the swf it wont keep repeating. The do whateva you did to make it work in powerpoint :)

Ok thats worked thx.

Now how do I make it so I have to click on the animation for it to play and not start up right away

Are you using 2000 or 2003?
In power point 2000 right click on the animation and then select custom animation. In there, there should be a time/click box where you can tell it if it starts over an amount of time or on click. For 2003 its slightly different but you should be able to find it.
