windows not recognizing dvd/cd RW

windows isn't recognizing when i insert a disc, whether it be data, music or a blank cd.

i'm trying to burn a cd from itunes, and it tells me that there is no software or disc drive found.

i'm pretty sure it's not the drive, because i can reboot into linux and everything works just fine.

it's just weird, it worked just fine yesterday, and now nothing

try unistalling your ide drivers

i didn't get much out of that link, and i couldnt find the drivers for my drive so i just did a windows repair, everything works now. thanks for replying

when you go to the device manager, right click the ide drive, click uninstall and then reboot, windows will reinstall it for you.
