As for AMD, meh, who knows. They're kept up for a long time and this is the only time in recent history that Intel has taken a major performance lead over AMD. I doubt AMD will go out of business, too big. And then there's K8L in one and a half years, so AMD isn't exactly sticking with their current A64s forever.
