hey guys was wondering if anyone would be able to help me out with a little problem I have at the minute.
I bought my current laptop for use with an audio application (pro tools LE). Although my laptop is not as powerfrull as that of an ideal pro tools setup it has served me well and I have been able to us it for the small projects I need it for. Over the past 2 months however performance has taken a nose dive. Pro tools is more or less in operable and I even get hiccups when playing AVI files on real player.
Im basically tryin to figure out whether the computer itself is just starting to shrivle up and die or is there something going on. I also notice my fan and hard drive running alot more than they used to. I have run adaware, regmechanic etc. and scanned with various anti virus programs
Any help would be gratly appreciated.

Here are my specs and hijack this file.

You have a bunch of junk running, Go Here PCPITSTOP Create a free account here Or pm me and I will give you one to use, and run the full test. Before doing it defrag your hdd and do a disk cleanup. And do a fresh restart then run the scan, I took a quick look and you have a bunch of crap running at startup. Make sure to scan your computer with an updated anti virus program like AVG!

thanks for the replys

Flashguy, thanks for the advice. I ran the test on the site you reccomended. The results seem ok, all passed except one flagged as a minor concern which was my hard drive, it just told me there was a few kb's of rubbish files but not enough to slow down my computer to the rate it's at. I use Sophos antivirus (its issued to us in college), zone alarm firewall, spyware doctor, adaware, reg mechanic and everything seems to be reasonably ok bar the odd unused file....... any other ideas?

if it helps, my fan is almost constantly running though i think this is a problem common to the 5*** inspiron range as I have read in other forums.

Thanks again for the help

When you ran the pcpitstop did you go to test summary and look at the programs that were running?? They will recommend which ones you should shut off.
