finding out the type of ram

Hi! i want to buy this ram from my friend. he claims it is a certain type of ram i was looking for, a corsair value select ddr400 512mb. It already has a aluminum heatsink attached to it. All i can see, is the sides of the ram, how can i tell its not some lame unknown/generic brand with a heatsink strapped to it. Is there a way to tell with it plugged in, or is there a way of telling through the bios?

double check your mobo for compatibility. Doublecheck your other ram to see if they are the same. Doublecheck prices on newegg.com or buy.com to see how much you'd pay elsewhere.
