testing my computer

I was wondering how can i test my computer to see how well it performs, and too see how well it compares to other computers ion the market?

i hvae a celeron d processor , 768 mb of ram and a geforce 6600 256 mb graphics card.

I am looking to uprgrade and want to know if i can test my current computer to see if it is worth upgrading to an athlon 64 3700 with a new mobo and around 2k of ram.

3D Mark is a great way to test the capabilities of your system, and trust me you will need that upgrade sooner or later =D

EDIT: If you do upgrade, upgrade to a 3800, it's better value.

what is an average computer score on benchmark?

and what sort of score would a good computer (like the one i may uprgrdae too) get on i t?
