Raid 1:
both drives are a copy of each other. if one drive fails, the other drive still has all your data
and 250GB + 250GB = 250GB

Raid 0:
half the data is written to each drive, so that the access times is faster
and 250GB + 250GB = 500GB

And take out that Opteron 175. No point, drop it to a Opteron 165 and get a X1900XT or a 7900GTX.

Well if you got it for the same price as the 165 (and couldn't get the 165 for cheaper), then its fine.

But I wouldn't spend the extra money on anything other than a base processor because it doesn't affect the performance in a game.

yeah go with what green said and get a 7900 GTX or x1900XT...

both excellent cards as you should know
