All-in-one Question

OK john calm down Im not gonna buy replace or whatever now. That's why Im here in the forums so that I could conduct my own research and will not be noob anymore. Once, I look in the processor by its frequency but know I realize that frequency is really that matter as long as you have a nice grfx card right?

My budget is $200 to be exact. This $200 will not increase nor decrease of course in this 1 whole year. This is just an excess of my tuition fee. I understand what you want to pertain which is the futuristic side of the motherboard isn't? So that I can upgrade in the future whenever need comes right?

Well I understand that of course and I WANT THAT really. But since im stuck into the $200 budget, I have no choice but for this setup only

AMD Athlon 64 3000+ Venice Socket 754 $114.99
ASUS K8N-E $ 64.00
__________
$178.99

So in that price I still have change :p. Well my reason is, I am, yeah, a gamer but not into those resource hog games. A slight bit increase in performance if I choose the setup above will be ok to me. I don't need something that I can max out all details effects and others (well in my dreams I want it :p) I am just thinking whether if I switch to AMD board with identical price or somehow not too much higher than my setup now will give me at least SLIGHT IMPROVEMENT of performance, I am already contented.

And last, at least I could focus on save money for a high end AGP8X video card although I know that it will cost me much more, at least I will not think anything else to earn.

This is my final choice of processor and mobo. Well again, Im not buying yet. Just picking out now. :p

So my question is, will my preferred setup of $178.99 will give me a SLIGHT improvements of performance rather than my Pentium 4 setup now? If I could for example be able to buy a GeForce 6600 video card, will it boost my gaming performance from my setup now? Because if I switch to the AMD setup, I'll stick first to my old 5200 while hunting some bucks somewhere :p. Besides, Im annoyed to the noise created by Pentium 4 fan and most of people use AMD especially gamers that's why I came to stuck here in the first place:p

Ok now my request. Could you give me a mobo and a processor which will fit my $200 budget? And by the way I edited the last paragraph just now kindly read again. :p I just added a sentence.

how bout u sell ur current parts........which might add up to $300.........add it to the $200, and u got almost $500. then u can buy a n Opteron 165, and an MSI K8N neo4-F, and still have about $100 left over.....so really u only need $400.

Well I guess that leaves out Newegg.

(if you decide to stay with AGP)

http://www.zipzoomfly.com/jsp/ProductDetail.jsp?ProductCode=241163
(If you go with PCI-e)

You should try and sell your current hardware and get a PCIe motherboard, PCIe video card, and a new PSU.

If you did that you could get a 7600 GS

or if you get enough a 7600 GT

http://www.zipzoomfly.com/jsp/ProductDetail.jsp?ProductCode=322771

I would go with a reliable PSU brand like Antec, OCZ, or Forton. But since Zipzoomfly doesn't carry OCZ or Forton I would go for this:

So if you could make around 200+ dollars off your current computer, you would be able to get a PCIe motherboard, a 7600 GS or GT, and an Antec PSU.

Well unfortunately, that $200 is already my selling price to a friend...:( That is not yet my extra money. By the way Im sorry I was kinda mixed up when I said that its an extra of my tuition fee. Im just really confused. Gosh im gonna be insane by this..

My friend is gonna buy this P4 processor and mobo for $200. Then this coming May, if I'll be lucky, I can get extra $100. So, maybe I can make at least $350. Would that do good if ever?

And by the way, this is Philippines still left behind of technology. prices of dual core AMDs here are relatively higher than the ones that you post. Gosh if only I could go to America..:p Most gamers here have AMD Athlon 64 and only maybe few has the opteron..

So my expected budget will be $350

$200 - processor and mobo
$100 - bribe from mom hehe:p
$50 - a good sales talk to another friend to sell my video card :p

$350 any recommendations then? Please give me two options one recommendation for $350 budget and one for $250 if ever my bribery fails hehe. :p
