lagging when minimizing page

hello i have noticed that some times my computer will lag when shrninking or making larger an internet explorer window or an application. the most i do at one time is play darkage of camelot and listen to music in windows media player but even after i close all applications it will continue till i restart windows. any ideas?

right-click on the desktop, click properties.
Click on the "appearance" tab.
Click "effects"
Remove the "fade effect".
