I recently purchased a laptop without a power cord, thinking they were cheap. Well I soon found out that they run about $90. I was wondering, how safe is it to jimmy rig a few other adapters to equal the voltage (actualy 18 volts rather than 20), and if the amprage has to be EXACTLY 2.5, thanks in advance!

thats odd....
Try ebay....

undervoltage or overvoltage may damage your system........
It does NOT matter if the amperage on the power supply is greater than that of the laptop, but the amperage CANNOT be LESS than that of the laptop......if you remember your elementary school scinece class...or even if your elementary school had one.....

Try a universal power supply where you can set the voltage...like this one...

That one wont work. I know OVER voltage will damage it, but I never knew that UNDER voltage would damage it. I was only wondering because I have enough adapters to make about 17-19 volts.

I found an adapter in my basment. its only 15V instead of 20V, but it should do for now. the only thing is, I dont know that it will charge my battery.
