we know what we are talking about . for starters the capacitors on the motherboard pertaining to CMOS can hold a charge for about 10 minutes on their own so your settings can be retained without battery or mains power for about 10 minutes. the battery IS NOT rechargeable and has a nominal life time of around 1-2 years if it were just powering the CMOS on its own. but this is all beside the point. if clearing CMOS doesn't work RMA the board.
