I read the lit on SLi and crossfire and figured payin double for a 10-20% increase isnt worth it....so i dont need a SLi mobo.
so the question is:
Is the ASUS A8N5X comprable to the Asus A8N-SLI, except for the extra 16x PCI slot and SLI ready?

Thanks for the input.

how bout u dont get Asus, and get a DFI Lanparty UT Ultra-D or an MSI K8N Neo4-F, they are both good, and they are both NOT asus. or SLI. or XFire.

The DFI Lanparty Ultra-D is generally well-liked around here, and can be modded to be an SLI board if need be. It's also a pretty good deal, and Lanparty boards are good. (Older versions of it would be recognized as SLI if certain dots of solder on the motherboard were scratched off. Newer versions of this board have these dots covered with epoxy, so if you get one now, you'll have to remove that too.)

DFI Lanparty Ultra-D has 2 16x pci ports... am i missing something? im pretty sure i'll only need 1. and noone really answered my question:
will the A8N5X perform the same as the SLI version A8N-SLI, except with respect to SLI capabilities?

Lanparty boards are really common, so if you need help, there are lots of forumers that would know what to do. Plus they come with cool sleeved cables.
