tv tuner card?

I have some vhs tapes that I would like to convert to dvd. Someone told me that I needed a video capture card, my question is can I just use my video card and connect my vcr through the s-video (i would have to buy a converter RCA to s-video, i believe that they are available) would that work? I understand that I need certain software an I am in the process of getting it, but I need advise on the hardware?

the video card has to have some kind of video input. you can use a TV tuner card or better yet, get a VIVO video card. use the forum search function, this question has been asked many times.

Yea, get a video capture card, they're not too expensive and you can do alot with them.

I use it to capture stuff on Live TV and through VCR since it supports SVIDEO and Composite.
