graphics card

I have an nvidia mx-440 se 64 mb, win 2000, 512mb ram....When i play games, every couple minutes the graphics hang up....why is this....I have all the updated graphic drivers with direct x 9.0. Is there some thing else i can do to fix this?

first 440 is not really support dx9.0
but you can install dx9.0b to try to fix

What kind of games are you trying to play?

Actually I do have dx9.0b (4.09.0000.0902)...the games I play are like Colin Mcrae Rally 2 and other driving games. But the graphics still hang up every so often even in low quality games like bugatron. I.ve run 3DMArk2001 and got a benchmark of 2938.

I'm thinking that a new video card would help you out. an ati 9800 pro is a great card.

Also what kind of frame rates are you getting?

i.ve gotten frame rates as much as 96fps but it all depends on the quality and intensity of the graphics involved. using the benchmark program 3dmark2001 i got a score of over 2900. i don.t have anything or anyone else to compare it to though to know if this is good or not.

thats a decent enough score but u really need a new graphic card, either one hercules_upw sed or the ati 9600xt both gud cards that should last u awhile. between 100 and 150. apart from that u cant do much.
