i was just wondering, would a computer post/ start up without any thermal grease in betwen the cpu and heatsink? im talking about none, its clean down there.... or does it matter...

thanks and dont flame

would it start? yes
would it run? no.. lol

i think the comp would go into restart loops because it gets overheated very fast without thermal paste.. so defintly put some on

but would it post (beep sound)?

Yes, it should post. If that's all you're trying to do, then I would guess it'd be ok. But I'd suggest turning it off immediately after. But as the above poster says, it's definetly not recommended, you could possibly fry it :\.

you can fry a modern cpu in about 10 seconds flat without proper cooling i.e. thermal paste and heatsink :amazed:. the pc would turn on but i don't think it would do much more seeing as even with decent air cooling set up correctly by the time you can get to BIOS in a room at about 25 degrees C it has already hit over 30 degrees normally.
