i want to overclock my pentium M 1.6ghz but i dont know where to start. i went into my bios hoping to increase the fsb but when i got there it woudn't let me alter any of the numbers. is there more to overclocking than just increasing the fsb of the processor and the frequency of the memory?

pentium M 1.6ghz

win xp home

Heh, Dell. It's highly unlikely that their BIOS will let you overclock anything. That's Dell for you. You're probably out of luck unless there's some software program that can do it (I have no experience with any of those).

Overclocking a laptop is not advisable.

The heat will be incredible, you can only really overclock a desktop, and also dell will restrict anything you try to do anyway....!

Normally, you really shouldn't OC a laptop, since all the parts are squished into a small thing. Anyways, it is impossible to OC your dell. you could OC your video card, but OCing the CPU is not possible. But that is basically how you OC a processor, except memory dividers can be used, and you can up the vcore to get more out of the cpu.
