lite-on cdrw issues

I have just upgraded the firmware on my lite-on 52246s and now it doesn't read my cdrws correctly. Before whenever I would put a cdrw disc with stuff in it in the drive, the drive used to be able to see how much space the disc had remaing and gave me the option to erase the disc. Now it doesn't do any of that. It's like the drive sees the cdrw disc as a plain cdr.
Any help will be appreciateed.

I'd say return it and get another one. Lite-on is supposed to be a very good brand, so I'm sure you'll have no problem with a return.

I purchased an MSI dvd drive and it played cds fine except for when i put in DVD's it would never ever work. I tried updating the firmware and even getting a whole new drive, nothing worked. Then i reinstalled windows with the drive plugged in and it worked.... i guess windows is weird about some hardware. I would suggest other things first, but if all else fails and you think you have tried everything, save you files and reinstall windows. I bet it will work :beard:
