Question about artic silver 5 and my 3800X2

Should I scrape off all the old thermal pad on the bottom of the heatsink that came with my 3800 before I apply arrtic silver 5 to it?

yes, but i would recomend an aftermarket HSF like a big typhoon and AS5

Hmm also doe anybody know how this clip works on the amd 3800s heatsink. Its a huge pain

you need to use 90%+ alcohol to clean for the safety of the components. you can only get em at the speciality store or on online. drug store only carries 70% alcohol i think. if you are using 70% alcohol, give it a little extra time to dry it off completely.

you can use methylated spirits as well. the clip has to be done with even pressure from both sides most of the time
