XP Problem

Ok so i just installed win Xp home in my sisters comp and got to the activation screen and i called the number and read back the activation key and wat do you know it its not recognized. it suggested that i un install it and re-install it but i dont know how...........lol. was just wonderin if any of you know how or if this has happended to you before

instead of doing it over the internet select toll-free calling and use that. then a rep will give u a new cd key as long as u have the xp cd with u since u need the code on the cd

it happened to me because my copy of xp was oem from compaq. i think i grabbed another copy of xp media and installed it.

i didnt talk to a rep. i used the automated service.

well the toll free number is an automated thing and we all know how those work

and i cant do it iver the internet cause its not hooked up to it

you can cancel and they will let you use it for 14 days.

it wont let me log in without activating it

why not? do you get an error? what screen are you stuck on?

on the activation screen look for a skip button in the corner.

When i say remind me later it takes me back to the login screen for xp then when i click on owner it tries to make me activate it

i'll look for that skip button when i get home from work and post the results

but it never gave any kind of an error mes.
