First time build:
2 gb of Value Ram or 1gb of high end Ram? I have never oc'd but I would like to try. Nothing major. Gaming and multi tasking comp.

Depends on your complete system, whats the specs of the entire system? If you cant get the 2GB of high end ram then get 1GB stick of highly OCable ram then later on get another for dual channel i guess.

I recommend G.skill HZ DDR500

I'm kind of on a budget. Forgot to mention that I was going to get 2X512mb high end pc3200 ram.
San Diego 3700
Asrock 939sli32 mobo
WD 16mb cache 250 gb
No video card yet( have to stick with my piece)

What would give me the best performance? 2gb Value or the 1gb setup?

I think you should stick with the 1gb high end, and then when you save enough go for the 2gb high ends.
