to upgrade or to not upgrade?

Its not about the memory for performance. There are 128mb cards that will blow away a 256mb card. Its all about clock speed, memory speed, pipelines, and the interface to the memory.

yeah i always noticed that but was never really sure why. now i know, thanks.
i'll be sure to check out the specs a bit closer next time i get a vid card.

BTW, my current 6800GT Ultra totally rocks! before that i had some crappy MMX440 128MB card. it was like day and night when i made the switch and my wallet really felt it too

if you're planning on getting 7900gtx don't expect to have much of a wallet afterwards..

why? is the 512 no good?
one thing that i always wondered was why it took so long for a 512 Vid card to come out. weird or is it just me?

The 7900gtx, and the x1900xtx both outperform the 7800gtx 512, and both are cheaper.

Umm if youre going to be building a new PC than get a Dual Core OPteron. Zalman 9500 HSF and overclock it.Than Maybe a 7900gtx
If you can afford it.DFI MObO,Umm dual channel 2Gb like you said.Also
sale those HDD's that you have and buy a single 300gig.Those HDDs probaly generate alot of heat.
