Windows Longhorn was the code name for the operating system Windows Vista. Windows Vista is a new operating system due to be released early next year. It has a number of new features such as 3D desktop, searching, etc. You can find more info about it here:

Microsoft have announced via the Windows Vista beta newsgroups that the Windows Vista April CTP will be available to testers on Monday 17th April. The build number that the April CTP will carry is not yet known, however a set of screenshots have appeared on the web today, showing Windows Vista Build 5361 - a build that has recently been handed out to TAP testers.

The build string of this release is 5361.winmain.060405-1900, indicating that the build was compiled last Tuesday. The build contains further performance tweaks and a few new features, including a few new gadgets as well as re-worked existing gadgets. Interestingly, Internet Explorer now shows the logo "7+" in the About screen, it is not yet known exactly what this symbolises.

this whole new anti piracy tactic is just going to make people who don't plan on getting a supported gfx card for vista think they may as well pirate the os because they have nothing to lose.

I just noticed that massive lack of information of the subject of trusted computing in this thread and I must say its rather disturbing to see that so many of you are ignoring such a serious subject.

For those of you who don't know trusted computing will be shipping with windows vista.


The company's want to take away your rights you have no control

The only programs you will be able to run will have to be signed by Microsoft. Effectively eliminating free software on the windows platform, stopping little timmy from learning how to program and giving Microsoft total control over the market.
