Hello. I need some suggestions and your input.
This is my first post here and I wanna get some help
on building a new pc.
Should I go with Intel or AMD.
My main use is editing photos, gaming, and video.
Have a budget of $1100 for the box including everything
from the case to the motherboard. Please include Windows
XP Home edition in the budget ($89.95 @ Newegg)
I've built a computer before, but I have no
clue what is the best for me to choose from as far
as brands and exact parts goes.
Thanks for your input.

Well I have a AMD Turion 64 Acer and a Intel MATRIX VPR and I prefer the Amd much more.

AMD for gaming, no question. You'll probably want to get a dual core if your budget allows it. Do you need a monitor also? You might want to look at:

Motherboard: MSI K8N Neo4-F
CPU: Athlon X2 3800
Video: e-VGA 7900GT
Ram: CORSAIR XMS 2GB (with good timming, 2,3,3,6)
Antec TruePower 550W
Whatever keyboard/mouse/monitor/case that your budget allows

Keep in mind, if you get an LCD make sure the response time is 12ms or lower.

Processor- Opteron 165 for $325 or 3800 X2 for $295

Mobo- DFI Ultra-D Mobo $122

Vid card - eVGA 7900 GT $319

Case - Thermaltake Tsunami 93 dollars

Ram - OCZ Ram (2 gb) 139 dollars

THanks guys. I like the setup.

Motherboard: MSI K8N Neo4-F
CPU: Athlon X2 3800
Video: e-VGA 7900GT
Ram: CORSAIR XMS 2GB (with good timming, 2,3,3,6)
Antec TruePower 550W

I was lookin at the motherboard. Do you recommend MSI?
I've always heard about ASUS for AMD64.

I've heard alot of good things about those parts.

Could you guys help me pick out a case under $100.

Also, I'm pickin up an LCD later.

Which memory? under $140-150.

I still would suggest the ram link i gave you. That is, unless you don't want to go through the hassle of sending in the mail in rebate.

How about this?

Motherboard: MSI K8N Neo4-F
CPU: Athlon X2 3800
Video: e-VGA 7900GT
Ram: CORSAIR XMS 2GB (with good timming, 2,3,3,6)
PSU: Antec TruePower 550W
Case: Thermaltake Tsunami Dream (Black)
Memory: G.SKILL 2GB (2 x 1GB) DDR 400 (PC 3200) [Timing 2.5-3-3-6 ]
Optical: LITE-ON DVD ROM
BenQ DVD Burner (With LightScribe) [DW1655]
Hard Drive: Seagate 160GB Barracuda 7200.9 SATA NCQ 3Gb/s
OS: Windows XP Home Edition SP2

Do you think the stock cooler will be ok? I'm
not into overclocking that much.

Memory link below. I know you all said corsair, but I may not be able to get high priced memory like corsair and OCZ.
