just curious how much longer sckt 939 will be around for?
is sckt 939 the latest standard right now?

i've read about AX2 or something but that won't be out for sometime, kinda like vista :D

Socket 939 is the latest from AMD at the moment but they are releasing AM2 some time late this year or beginning of next year (i think i dont really know when) but skt 939 cpu's will still be around for a very long time depending on what it is really. If you're looking to upgrade go for a dual core as programs and games will soon be using this, buying a single core won't last as long.

your saying it will be around for a very long time, is that 2 years or so? i bought a socket A 1.5 years ago and it has been dead for a short while now.

and yup, i'm looking at getting a dual core, but closer to x-mas. waiting for prices to drop.

socket 939 is currently the newest socket, and will be around for awhile but people are saying socket 754 will outlast 939.....hmmm....wierd but w/e im glad i own a socket 754 mobo.

Just get a dual core skt 939 that WILL last you 2 years if not longer. AM2 apparently is all its cracked up to be but is ok.

i 'think' you meant a 'not' in there. but i understand what your sayin' and its a great suggestion, thanks!
