Second HD

Hi all

I'm trying to add second HD to my Dell4600 win XP, seagate 160 gig Sata HD

the second HD is a seagate 160 gig ATA/100 HD

what ever I do I cant set the puter to reconize the new HD

any suggestions..?

I have changed all setting in BIOS trying but with no scuess..?

Try putting your cd/dvd drives on IDE primary and the IDE HD as master on the seconday IDE channel. It is on master IDE and your system is booting to the SATA and will not recognize the IDE master. Or you can set is to calble select (IDE) and then put it on the second connector on the primary IDE ribbon.

Yea you have to set the jumpers, but I'm not too sure if it will work on a Dell. Didn't on mine

Problem found

both HD have to set as MASTER then puter found new HD

old drive has no jumpers by default

new drive had to set as master
both drives are seperate from each other
