TV tuners?

I was wondering how these work?? Do you need a special vid card for them??

Basically what im asking is their anyway to get my cable to run through my monitor without buy9ing a video card. My lcd screen is alot bigger and clearer than my tv thats why I ask

you need a tv tuner card to do this. basically think of a tv tuner card as "the guts" of a tv that actually pick up the signal except in a form that can be used in a pc.

So if I buy a tv tuner card thats only like 50 bucks ill be able to watch tv on my monitor?
