Just trying to transfer data to my portable hard drive and I was wondering if there was a way to prevent the folder modified/created date from changing when I copy. Using Windows XP, tried zipping (but there has to be an easier way) and also the backup software included with the portable drive, but the date still changes. Thanks for any advice!

You can't stop it from changing, I don't believe so. At my computer forensic class we use to do this all the time, the problem was that if you copy the file you created another copy of it which will have the recent date and time. There is a way though, that is you just change your time and date on your computer to reflect the files then copy and it will have that date and time.

Thanks for that. I'll take a look.

Law, the problem is that I have 600+ folders that will need their individual dates intact.
