Why are you so bent on spending money? The 165 will overclock as far as the 170. And like I said, the 165 is guaranteed to get 2.6GHz, what more do you want?

I'm not bent on spending money. I'm bent on splurging a little because it's been 3 and a half years since I have had to buy one because I splurged back then as well. I don't want to have to get something that needs to be forced to run faster, when I could just spend a little more money and overclocking it puts less stress on the chip. Overclocking from 2.0 is a little better than 1.8. I'm thinkin longevity here, not monitarily.

The "stress" on the CPU is negligible. The lifespan of the CPU may be reduced, but it will still be longer than you will be alive. As for splurging, go splurge, but do it on something that needs to be splurged on. The CPU is the least of those since you can buy a $170 CPU and make it a $800 CPU.
