Ok about the Conroe compatibility thing i found this on Intel.com, it makes me think that conroe will work on the 975X chipset.

next-generation extreme edition proccessor" then under that for the motherboard it says "intel 975X express chipset", im guessing that the "next generation Extreme edition proccessor" wil be conroe.

i also found thing on multiple other web site like these.

Intel has indicated that Conroe will work in existing 975X motherboards, though a BIOS update will be needed.

im not 100% but im pretty sure conroe willl work with 975X boards.

any comments on my build or conroe and 975X?

Looks awesome. Video card looks pretty nice to. I have an eVGA as well and it works nicely.

I know you said don't mention this, but for $120 might be able to find an LCD monitor. Not for sure though. But you can definetly find a CRT monitor for less than $120 if your willing to save money.

very nice system, make sure the hard drive is one with 16mb cache. With a system like this a soundcard for EAX in games would be ideal, like audigy 2 zs, but you can always take care of that later.
