DVD Burner... or just a waste of $269?

You might need to upgrade the firmware. My freind as a IOMEGA (rebadged NEC) DVD Burner. At first, it would not reconise certain brands of media. However, he's upgrade the firm where and he now have 50% succcess.

He can not burn on any media, it just that he might not be burning at full speed.

Well thanks guys.. I'll try the aspi files that were missing first.. last night i found a whole site dedicated to NEC drives and found the hacked firmware for my drive.. I contacted the tech support at the verbatim site and hopefully will get a reply by today, if not I'm gonna try the hacked firmware. The problem is that it says the only thing hacked is the 2x ripping limit... so I dont know if its worth it. I guess I'll figure that out later.

Ok... the site that was posted for getting the dll.. it just tells you to get nero haha.. well, what i did was coppied the dll that was in the nero folder into the system folder, now it shows up fine for both.. but it still wont burn dvds..
