i have 2 sticks of 512 corsair 240pin pc4300 533mhz ram and im thinking of buying a 1 stick of corsair xms 1gb 240pin pc5400 675mhz ram. can i mix match ram like that?? or do all the ram chips have to the the exact same?

you gotta have 2 or 4 sticks in same size in order to utilize dual channel , if youll have 3 it will downgrade performance as it wont run in dual channel , you can *mix* but better get a stick with same timings as your current to avoid stability issues , its a better idea to get 2x 512mb or 2x 1gb so it will run in dual channel

well in that case who's interested in buying 2 sticks of 512mb corsair 240pin 533mhz pc4300 ram????? $60 + shipping. nearly 2 months old.

I have a similar question. My MOBO has 4 slots for ram. It is an MSI K8n Neo4 Plat. FSB is 1000. I have 4 512 PC 3200 in there now and just got 4 PC 4200 to replace them. is this worth it? It was $140 for the 4 sticks of kingston value ram.

Aslo the voltae ojn the ram says 1.8v all othere are n the 2.5-8 or so..

I was told using the 4 banks slows the computer down. how is this, I thought it would run faster... more channels.?.
