what the heck is the difference between PATA and SATA? or is there such a thing as PATA. thats what it says on my harddrive.

PATA = old standard for hard drive connections. Also used by optical drives. Uses a flat ribbon cable.

SATA = new standard for hard drive connections. Optical drives will probably follow, there is a few on the market now. Faster data transfer than PATA (or ATA). Uses a smaller, round cable (helps for better air circulation).
