replacing the backplate is very easy, you just unscrew the old one and screw in the new one. theres nothing tricky involved.

Not true. When I was assembling my PC and putting in my MSI K8N Neo4-F motherboard, I had to put on a Zalman backplate for my 7000. It turned out that the motherboard's backplate was glued onto it. Very well so might I add. The only way to get it off was to use a hair dryer. Very risky and troublesome in my opinion.
 
Thats odd, the back plate on my ultra-d was just screwed on. IDK about the asus mobo...
 
Well, I guess I either suck it, grow some balls and do the job right or stick with stock speeds. LOL It's all up to me now.
