I don't see a reason why you would want to go SLI 7900s when the G80 cards come out this year ;). I go by performance, not by which developer made it. Nvidia makes good cards, but so are ATI's X1900 cards.

because you have $600 now to spend on either one of these cards.....and i rekn that the G80 cards when they come out will be double the price of the 7900GTX...in sli it will beat a G80 ?

Well lets see, the G80 has 48 pixel pipelines at 700+mhz core clock speed vs. the 7900GTX 24 pixel pipelines at 650mhz core clock speed. The G80 is DirectX 10, supports shader model 4.0 as well. SLI doesn't double performance, 30%-50% isn't worth another 500 dollars when a single card will probably max out all games that come out in 2006. And SLI 7900GTXs will take FOUR slots. The G80 won't cost 1000 dollars. It will probably be 650/700 dollars retail at most, probably less.

Seriously, when the 7900GTX becomes so slow that you need to get another one for SLI, assuming they have come down in price enough that you can just run out and get another one, I don't like the idea of going SLI later down the road. I'd much rather get a new video card with new features, such as unified shader architecture, DX10, Shader model 4, etc...

i see....but when the G80 is due for release everyone will be talking about there new range of cards....and all there newer features....so to me you will never be on top of technology...unless you own nvidia or sumthing haha then you get the cards for free

Even though I have the ASUS A8N32 - I'm not going SLI. I know it's a bit stupid but, It's a great overclocking board and it will come in hand for my Opty 150.

I think I might order the X1900XTX. I really wanted to stick to NVIDIA, but you know what... I'm tired of waiting for the eVGA 7900GTX to become available. Plus, with the slight difference either way between the two cards... I can get the x1900xtx for $489.00 vs. $539.00

Then in may... pick up the ASUS Ageia Physx 256MB card.... yeah... I think i might have to order it up...

Nvida all the way (just look at my sig)

And i dont think that getting the g80 is worth the money until D10 gets to be normal for most people to have. PRICE

i always go with nvidia.

windows vista is not coming out before january 2007, and i think g80 will be released at that time, so i think it is too early now for thinking about g80
