I have a copy of XP home that im going to load onto my new comp will it run just the same as xp pro or is xp pro worth the investment........ what do you guys think..

thanks, Eric

If you already have XP home, I would go with that and see what you think, if you were buying a new OS anyway, I would go for Pro.

Eric,

This is an open ended question since you need to decide what
and where you will be using this computer.

Windows XP Pro is used in the Business world because it can be managed through a Domain at work.

XP Pro also offers File Encryption (EFS) to keep people who have
access to your files from viewing them.

XP Pro offers Remote Desktop Connection that allows you to connect over a LAN or Internet to the computer and control it
like you were sitting in front of it.

XP Pro also has some other network related services available
like IP Sec and so forth.

If you really don't think you will use any of these extra features
just stick with XP Home.

Actually there can be. Xp home does not work with a lot of networks which everyone knows because xp pro is basically just more networking options. However, compatablity with hardware is also something to consider. A lot of digital cameras only work with xp pro. Dont ask me why because i dont know but iv worked with a lot of cameras that dont work with home but pro. Some other hardware can be compromized but xp home should be fine i use it.
