I thought I would be nice and build my mom a computer for her birthday. She wants to use the Internet and pay bills and stuff. Mabye use a bit of word. So were not talking about a high end system. How does this list of parts look for this budget build.

Case: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16811129140

Motherboard: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16813131512

Processor: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16819104245

Video Card: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16814130197

Memory: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16820145026

Hard Drive: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16822144122

$402.70 After shipping not including a rebate for the video card.

How does this look guys.

I think that you can go a bit cheaper on the video card although its not a big deal at all. If your a money cruncher though you can probably pass with a really low video card if your just using word/paying bill and things like that. Overall though that will get the job done for what you need.

That HDD is a waist of money, you can get so many more GIGs for So little. And a little more then Over kill on that case for a budget system? you think?.... since you say she's probably only using it for Internet/word, you could probably find a motherboard with one of those Built in Onboard Nvidia 6100 IGP chipsets... might beable to save you some on the vid card. check how much it might be at newegg though.... and since its such a small system i guess you can buy any 350 watt or maybe less PSU that you wont.

250gig Seagate SATA = $85

ATX Case = $14 + Whatever shipping may cost you

EDIT: wasnt looking at the board for a while, noticed someone already linked you to a 6100 IGP MoBo.

EDIT again: i just noticed your own specs... i guess if you desided to you could, get this 250GIG Seagate for yourself, and pass your 80GiG on to your mathers comp.

i share the same views as the others.

get that biostar motherboard with the integrated video. i like the cpu you chose.

the case/powersupply you chose is too expensive. get hte thermaltake powersupply for $30 after rebate. and get any "pretty" case that your mom would like.. the one you picked is big and not 'pretty' so your mom might not like it.

i know your mom is an amateur when it comes to comps, but she'll get more comp savvy the more she uses the comp. i know my dad when he got the hang of the comp, he kept installing all sorts of crap and toolbars and.. ugh! anyways.. so it might not be a bad idea to maybe get a 1gb stick instead of the 512.. it might be overkill for now.. but in the long wrong you won't have any regrets..
