Overclocking?

i have recently purchased an epox 9npa+ultra with an amd 3700+ San Diego rev2. with ocz platinum rev2 and im looking to do some ocing. i messed with it once and the monitor wouldnt turn on and i had to reset my bios completely. so if i could get some input on the basic steps to gradualy increase the speeds and voltage and in what order that would be great. im not looking to crank the crap out of anything, i just want to get good performance out of the eqipment i have. oh and i also have a zalman cooler on the cpu.
