Hi

My cursor has disappeared. When I restart my PC, it stays on for a while, but then suddenly (mostly when starting a new application, any app.) it disappears. The cursor itself, the arrow, remains visible, but it gets stuck in one place, doesn't move, but when I drag my mouse, things like links in website do show an underline, buttons get highlighted, meaning the mouse cursor is working fine function wise, but the actual arrow jams at one place, so from then I have to guess the position of the cursor through moving my mouse in all directions and judging by which buttons or links show change.

Its really annoying and very surprising, I've never had this problem before. I've checked for viruses and spyware, deleted them, but the problem remains.

I have two anti-virus/firewalls on at all times, other than Windows own.

I have Windows XP, installed just a month ago, retail version brand new.

Windows XP
MSI MS-6507
Intel P4 2.0 GHz
1GB Ram
GeForce Ti 4600
Maxtor (40 GB 7200 RPM Ultra ATA/133)

No, it stays right where it jams, and that can be anywhere. I've noticed it jams mostly when I start a program meaning when pc gets a bit busy.

Right now the arrow is on my task bar, its just there, doesn't move or anything, but if I move my mouse around and stumble upon a link or text field, that arrow on the task bar changes to hand or text cursor, so it does work fine, its just it jams and doesn't move or follow my mouse movement.

What type of mouse is this? Did it come with any software to install to give it features (such as: mag glass, 360 directional, ect) ? Is it USB or? Try uninstalling the mouse software if you have, and reinstall it. Or you can just remove the mouse driver under device manager.

No, I've checked another new mouse plugging in another USB post, same problem (same mouse has worked perfectly on another PC, I've tested).

I personally don't think its a mouse problem, its something else, its something from within the PC thats causing this. Don't know what.

Anyway my mice are normal optical ones.
