ATX issue

So im fixing this computer for this guy, its got an ATX board, and a fresh install of windows. So i select shut down and power off, the computer turns off...and turns itself on after a few seconds...never seen or heard of this before so...anyone know wats up?

Woah thats wierd. Probably just by accident someone hit restart or something. If not then i have no idea.

nope, shut down and power off, for sure, does it EVERY single time, but o well, i dont have it anymore so...thx anyway lol. kinda messed up, fresh xp install too.

i would say its a hardware issue. something is making the psu think it is being switched on again. maybe a bad switch. does it definatly turn OFF properly before it turns on? what happens if you switch off by pressing and holding the power button rather than shutting down?

it could be a piece of hardware connected giving the PWR-ON signal. perhaps a modem, that is common in my experience. make sure advanced power management is enabled in power options in control panel
