SP3? How can I tell?

I have a friend who installed SP3 that he got from a MS guy. How can you tell if it's legit? It works fine.

it's not a final release... its most likely beta still in testing.

supposedly SP3 is supposed to be released before longhorn (which must be soon) and has IE7 built-in. This must be what you are talking about...

umm actually SP3 is supposed to be released in late '07 about november-ish

and no ie7 built in it

SP3 is as you said released after 2007 if I recall correctly. SP2 for XP x64 hasn't been confirmed yet as far as I know.
