7800GT for AGP?

Gainward seem to do what they want with their GPU's and then go away after a little while (what they did with the 6800gt and ultra.)

As long as their are bridging chips and a market for it, someone will make AGP cards.

The quality may go down, and the newest chips may take a while, but they will be there.

The G70 was not designed for AGP cards, Gainward just modded theirs so it could. ATI just now gave manufactures the right to OC their cores and I dought that ATI will let them mod them into AGP boards.

They are not making anymore GPUs specifically to be AGP. Bandwith issues are keeping them back from keeping AGP alive, it's a cycle. PCI was killed off with AGP, and now PCIe is killing of AGP.

Its not exactly the bandwidth issue that is the problem, as the difference between AGP 4x and 8x is only a few points in 3d mark (search here for exact difference.) The only real advantage with PCIE is that it can read and write at the same time, and it is the new technology so who wants to be restrained from getting newer technology due to them wasting their technicians time by making AGP cards.

They are trying to kill off AGP because PCI-E is better, and they know that it will take a while before AGP gets to point where most gamers don't use it, so they are starting early before there would be any bandwith problems.
