The Ultra-D is a good motherboard, but if your not overclocking the MSI Neo4 is awsome, it overclocks decently and the BIOS isn't as complicated as the Lanparty boards (because the Lanparty series are designed for tweaking and overclocking they put a lot more things in the BIOS). I got the SLI-DR which is identical to the Ultra-D except it has a SLI chipset. And since the start making the Neo4 red it would look pretty cool with the X1900XT.

250 $$ extra for another video card that alot? you better do this before u jump in. Go to goole and search x1900xt reviews and see the extra frame per seconds are worth it, i dont think they are. But that up to you go to google and decide for your self.

I am so confused. I am not a computer guru I am just a mom trying to build two computers one for me and one for my child. Could someone please simplify this for me please?

Thanks

You can get a retail X1900XT Sapphire for $475 off newegg, so it's 175 dollars more. And the difference between the X1800/7800 is noticable. If you have the money go for the X1900XT.

The X1800 performs around the 7900 GT. The X1900 has around 23 more frames then the 7900GT, so you can see the improvement, it is almost the same performance as SLI 7900GT's. (This is in BF2 w/ 12x10 res with 4x AA)

The MSI would be easier to set up if you don't know everything about the BIOS.

I am trying to use the components from my current computer to build a computer for my child. This is what I have decided for the first computer. Using the current computer that I have now which is:

Motherboard: Gigabyte 8KNXP, 1.x

Processor Pentium 4 2.80 Northwood

Kingston DDR-SDRAM PC3200 -2x 512 Mbytes

Sound Blaster live

I am planning to add:

eVGA 256-A8-N397-TX Geforce 6800GS (AGP)
NEC 16X DVD±R DVD
ASPIRE X-Plorer ATXB8KLW-BK
For a total cost of $375

This computer will be for my child. I will have to build a second computer for me which is the topic of this post.

that looks good. now what your budget, you never what your budget was?

So the first computer is ok?

All I need now is the Motherboard and Video card for the second computer.

Thanks

I forgot to add that we are looking to play BF2, Farcry and Oblivion on both computers.

Thanks

I am going to return the x1800 and get the x1900. I don't want to rebuild again for years so is this the best motherboard (DFI Nforce 4 Ultra-D) for me? I want to buy the best motherboard so if I need to upgrade I can do that without having to rebuild a new system.

get 512MB 7900GTX, it is the best card on market .
