I'm wanting to buy a new hard drive... What do I looks for in a hard drive? What makes the good ones better then the bad ones?

Western Digital or Seagate are good brands for them. You have to look into which one you are readiung and always reading reviews well help. But make sure you get the right know that well fit on your motherboard like saying you don't want to get a sata harddrive if it isn't going to connect to your motherboard. So js8ut read reviews and you well be fine with picking one out. If you need help where to start www.google.com is always a good place to start.

SATA OR SATA 2 (good for raid)
size (as you like..)
NCQ (supposed to be good...)
speed (7200rpm is good for general use, high performance HD's run at 10,000rpm, or if you move onto scsi (server stuff.. not worth it for regular computer folk) it gets even faster.
cache, 8mb is good, 16mb is great. 2mb sucks.
