Hello, now, I'm building a high end gaming computer, my budget is roughly $6,000 , more or less. I was wondering if you had any suggestions/additions on my current component list, I most likely will be overclocking, tell me what you think though (layout might be a bit sloppy, excuse me) :

Nice build, but DO NOT get 4 GB of ram. That will basically slow down your system. Also, for a 6 grand build, I would get an FX 60. and a better graphics card, maybe the 7900 GTX or ATI x1900xtx. Be sure to get a nice soundcard, like the xfi xtrememusic. - Charlie

edit: P.S. I don't know if you've had any experience with this particular mobo, or if that would even matter, but is there any significant advantage to a seperate sound card VS the onboard variant other than sound quality?

get a pc power and cooling PSU instead, case is a personal opinion but i like the kandalf and shark series better than the Xaser 3 to be honest, get this board http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16813131568, or a DFI, get 2 gig of mushkin or ocz if you plan on overclocking or jsut 2 gig corsair, but *dont* get 4,
also get one of the new 7900gt or gtx, get the new WD raptor instead of that seagate SCSI drive, speakers are fine, get a x-fi soundcard with them and if you arent very experienced in water cooling i would suggest just getting a big case with a lot of fans instead

yes, there is a significant difference, and get an FX60 for a processor, and a g5/g7 for mouse and either g15 or eclipse keyboard

though, I am pretty set on watercooling, there seems to be some good reference material regarding the setup of some of these WC systems, while I am rather apprehensive of water cooling from the potential damage if incorrectly set up, the noise/cooling aspect of it is rather enticing.

Regarding the watercooling:

It is completly safe if you get de-ionised water, so if a leak occures then it will pour out, not affecting the components. If you are not there to turn the PC off, then it will shut down when it hits the max temperature.

Get a custom kit, and not a ready built. The best waterblock is from TDX and the best pump is D5. Buy your water cooling from Danger Den site.

Remember to do a leak test, with out any components in the PC (so you don't have to let them dry out.) You will need to hot wire teh PSU, so get a paper clip and put it in on the green wire and any black one, and it needs to stay in position.

Remember to get some clips, or replace the barbs with screw on ones if you can find any.

Also, The PCP&C PSU you have selected will be very load (just so you know.) If you want silent the Seasonic PSU's are excellent (they won loads of awards.) If you wanted modular, go for only the Hiper Type R 580w.

1. less "electrical crosstalk" so better sound quality
2. more advanced features
3. takes load of cpu

it does not make a very significant difference but the difference is still there and seeing as you are spending $6k there is no reason to go cheap

Yeah, well put, I already opted for a seperate sound card, specifically, the Creative Sound Blaster X-Fi XtremeMusic.

Can someone elaborate on the issue of a PSU? such things as, if it will be able to reliably run this setup, the general feedback on the quality of the product, I read up on both Seasonic and Hipro PSU's in their highest Wattages available (600) and both seemed to be met with a good deal of problems, any help about this would be appreciated, because frankly I'm getting a bit flustered, it seems that the PCP&C 850W I picked out does have reviews stating it has a rather loud fan.

edit: P.S. curse you people, I just calculated this and you saved me near $2,000 and built a better machine in the process, what am I going to do with this money now?

i would get the LanParty SLI-DR Venus motherboard seeing as you have the cash. and perhaps you should throw in an extra couple of hard drives and upgrade the case to something huge like the kandalf. get a nice huge RAID array.

Get something fun, like a mini moto (depending on how tall you are.)

Every PSU will have its bad history. I accept that some Hipers have a load fan, and if they do then you have a dodgy one so return it, but I am really happy with my one - not one single spare cable. I haven't heard anything bad about the Seasonic.

Add another one to the table, how about a Tagan?
