cpu or ram??

right now i have an intel pentium 4 2.8ghz 400fsb 512mb ram. my friend is willing to trade my his celeron 2.8ghz 400fsb 1024mb ram for my p4 and current ram. i know that the celeron chip is way crippled compared to the pentium 4 but i like to run lots of programs and i could really use the ram but im short on memory. i play games like F.E.A.R AOE3 and battlefield 2. i know fear will run good with more ram even though its a celeron (current gpu 6800LE 12Pipes/6vertex).
So should i swap the cpu and the ram or just keep it? super short on cash

DO NOT SWAP IT!!! the processor performance you will cheat yourself out of is not worth the trade-off for the memory. celeron's are completely crippled especially in games so trading for more memory and a processor that is going to be worse for the gaming is a bad tarde-off

Stay with what you have for now, and save toward more RAM.

A single stick of 1gig is about $66 bucks, so it will be worth waiting a little while to scrape together the cash.

its better to buy 2X 512mb , if he'll have only 1stick of 1gb it wont run in dual channel .. means lower performance

the celeron has 128kb cache (most likely) and the p4 can have from 512kb-1meg of cache.
