Dell is very over priced and loaded with useless software imo. Toshiba and Hp/Compaq are both very good. Compaq gives you a lot for your money if you customize one on their site.
Sony is nice too but they're pretty expensive.

thx everyone, u are all way helpful. i just thought i should post on what i am loking for in the laptop. I want it for gaming, but not hardcore gaming. and example of the games i play are rolllar coaster tycoon 3, age of empires 3, and games of the like. so im guessing i could get by with a 128 mb graphics card...? i would also like a gernerous amount of memory and storage, alothough i dont know the specifics of how much i want. to get back as to y i want the laptop....

2. schoolwork
3.portabilty
4. stylish
5. anything else that a laptop is used 4 haha
