I really wanted Oblivion but not a chance my ati 9250 256megs can handle it. Wanted to know if these cards are worth or or should just hold out till i get new computer.

Also want a card that will play most games ok for a year till i can get new computer. Note that my power supply is only 250watts and has cd rom, dvd and 2 hd's. But this is an Compaq and heard they made good power supplies.

This is Oblivion specs. http://www.elderscrolls.com/games/oblivion_faq.htm

Cards i'm interested in.

Don't much like the idea of buying a new card since i will get a new computer probably around christmas but don't seem to have a choice to play the lastest stuff. Any of these cards can play everything out at atleast medium settings?

Note that the AGP on this MB is only 4x.

Just to add. Power supplies aren't that expensive so could get a 450watts upgrade if i really needed it.

That wasn't helpful :(
Another question if anyone wants to help. Which is better and will last longer?

ATi 9800pro 128megs or Nvidia 6600gt 128?

dude, don't buy your video card from futureshop, they rip you off. only time i'd consider getting from futureshop is when they have some really big sale, or usually high-end ati cards are priced reasonably. go to a computer store! where in canada are you from? you could buy it online as well.

but of the 2 cards you mentioned, the 6600gt is better

here's a comp store, its not the cheapest but they have good variet. ones you choose the card, then you can shop around to see who's got the best price.

this might be above your budget, but its good value. 6800gs $271

if you know even a little bit about overclocking, then i HIGHLY recommend you get this card, it overclocks EXTREMELY well.. most come with pipes unlocked.. its guaranteed to overclock i think. 100% success rate in overclocking, you can overclock it to x850xt pe. x800gto2 $216.60

the 6600gt you mentioned is still good value. $177

and also the x1600pro. $157.55
should give you good performance.

oh and, I JUST REALIZED THE X800GTO2 IS PCI-EXPRESS. SORRY DUDE, THAT WOULDA BEEN A GOOD CARD.

Thanks guys. 2 sites in there i didn't know about. And so far this is looking the most attractive. http://www.bfgtech.com/6600GT.html Because of price http://pcvonline.com/productDetails.aspx?id=1631. 6800gs sounds good but so expensive.

Power supply is just 250 watts on this computer but will upgrade it to 450watts for this card. My main concern is the MB. The 6600gt says 2.0 AGP slot and have no clue what mine is i just know it's 4x agp. No 8x on it..

Also I'd bought a 6200 256meg card but returned it after i still couldn't even play fear or stubbs zombie demos and saw very little difference to my ati 9250 256. Is 6600GT a big leap from the 6200 and work with all games out now at atleast medium level?
Oh would that 6600gt outperform the ati 9800pro?
