dude, don't want to sound rude here but just call them and say u reformatted

EDIT: actually, according to the EULA (i think this is from 2000, so it might be updated) you can have it on as many machines as you want... you just can't use them all at once

again, not sure if that is true
 
Acording to the new policy M$ set in place you are not suppsed to do this anymore. 1 Serial=1 Machine.

As for your question if you used a serial off the net that is known to be leaked then you wont get a new serial.

If you use one you currently have and call them you might be able to get a new serial. Nothing is definate. With the new policy that M$ put into place that a new mobo is a new PC they might have also changed this with the calls.

Either way you take a risk. You risk your one machine's serial from getting turned off and not able to recieve updates. Or you risk getting caught using a known leaked serial.
 
Bottom line: Keep things legal. Use one serial per computer. Don't discuss otherwise here on these forums.
